Our Journey with Jagua as a Textile Dye
At Jagua Henna, we are always looking for innovative ways to expand the use of Jagua beyond body art. One of our most exciting developments is exploring how Jagua can be used as a natural textile dye.
Our Research So Far
We started this journey by collaborating with students from the Smart Solutions Semester at Saxion University. Through their research, we successfully dyed cotton fabric in a beautiful blue color using Jagua-based dye. This was an exciting first step in understanding how Jagua can be applied to textiles.
Encouraged by these results, we are now continuing the research with a second student group to further refine the process and improve color stability and application techniques. The interest in this project has been so strong that one of the students from the first group is now using the Jagua dyeing process to create her own collection for her minor in Fashion Design in Paris.
What’s Next?
We are thrilled to see where this research takes us and look forward to discovering more about the possibilities of Jagua as a textile dye. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to explore the sustainable and creative potential of this natural colorant!
